The Deco District, which is Newport's downtown, captures the modern architectural style of the 1920 & 30's now known as "art deco" and features numerous art deco buildings. The Yaquina Bay Lighthouse, located in Yaquina Bay State Park just south of the Deco District at the north end of the Yaquina Bay Bridge on a bluff above the mouth of the Yaquina River, overlooks the Newport Bayfront and a broad expanse of the Pacific Ocean.
