Otter Rock is a small community on the Oregon coast 5.4 miles south of Depoe Bay and 8 miles north of Newport. Otter Rock, tucked away at the south base of Cape Foulweather, is known for its semi-sheltered beaches, idyllic summer conditions and dramatic winter storms. The community derives its name from a rock off its coastline that was once a haven for otters. Today, the offshore rocks serve as home for a variety of marine birds. place for surfers of all levels, attracting surfers from around the world. Devil's Punchbowl State Park, in Otter Rock, is known for its unusual geology and impressive surf action. The park is a favorite location for storm watching in the winter as well as hiking and picnicking in the summer. Otter Rock has several restaurants and a winery that is open throughout the year.
